Up in the Cloud, Bacteria’s the word!

An overall evaluation of last year’s Great British Bioscience Festival for the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) has been published. The full evaluation was conducted by independent evaluators Graphic Science.

The event in Bethnal Green in the Tower Hamlets Borough of London attracted over 6,500 people through the door and proved a hit with both exhibitors and visitors, providing an excellent opportunity to showcase cutting-edge bioscience to the local community and beyond.  Not only did it generate interest in, and support for, bioscience but was useful to develop researchers’ experience and confidence in public engagement.

When visitors were asked, “Tell us something from your visit that you found particularly interesting” the most common words in their responses were collated and used to create a ‘word cloud’.

As you can see, ‘bacteria’ came out on top and is shown here as the biggest word. We’d like to think that this was in no small part to “A Twisted Bug’s Life”, the exhibit all about Campylobacter and the research that is being done on the Enigma Project!
